Shift Lever Adjustment, 20 thru 30 1Rotate the propeller shaft and move the shift lever to NEUTRAL
[TI 2Loosen both shift lever screws f21 3Move the shift actuator cam back and forth until the neutral shift lockout lever centers in the notch of shift actuator cam
4Tighten the shift lever screws to torque of 60-84 inIbs(7-9 Nm)
Neutral Start Switch Adjustment, 20 hru 30 TE
Correct neutral start adjustment is possible only when the shift handle coincides with the shift position of the gearcase1Disconnect the battery cables at the battery2Remove the yellowred lead from the neutral start switchf31 3With the shift handle in NEUTRAL, adjust the distance between the bottom of the neutral start switch and the top of the plunger to 1116 in(1,6 mm): Loosen the two neutral start switch screws Insert V16 in(1,6 mm) drill bit between the bottom of the switch and the top of the plunger Move the switch until the switch and plunger contact the drill bit Tighten the switch screws securely4To test for proper operation of the neutral start switch, connect continuity light or an ohmmeter (set to low ohms scale) between the neutral start switch yellowred lead terminal and ground With the motor in NEUTRAL, the light or ohmmeter should show continuity
