Exhaust Housing Servicing
Removal 1Remove the powerhead as described in Section 4
2Remove the gearcase as described in Section 6
Remove the two screwslower engine cover support brackets to exhaust housing adapterNote the location of the washer for correct reassemblyRemove the lower engine cover
4Remove steering arm shieldr:;J 5If equipped, remove the two nuts and screws, steering bracket to steering armRemove the steering bracket assembly

'" Manual tilt models have tilt assist shock absorber which exerts considerable upward pressureRemoving the exhaust housing while it's in the down position could allow sudden release of parts which could cause serious injuryPlace motor in tilt position to relieve pressure6Remove the four screws
