20Wrap the housing with shop clothRotate the detent lever 90 in either direction, then pull the detent lever out of the housing1201 21Remove the detent ball CD and spring Q)Remove the 25 forward gear needle bearings22The forward gear bearing and bearing housing are serviced as an assemblyIf either are worn or damaged, replace the entire assembly
f21l 23Remove the pinion bearing only if it needs to be replaced
Before attempting removal, take out the bearing retaining ring on top side of the pinion bearing, using long-handle needle-nose pliers such as Snap-On No911CP or equivalent
