Overheat InspectionAll Models If the engine has overheated, the following items should be checked for damage1Check the water cover and exhaust cover gaskets for leakage2Remove the cylinder head3Inspect the pistons, rings and cylinders for damage4Inspect the cylinder block and cylinder head for warpage5Check the water passages for damage or missing water deflectors (3Deluxe models)Water deflectors MUST be in correct position in the water passagesLoose deflectors may lodge in the water passages or allow leakage that would interfere with proper water circulation6Replace the cylinder head and gasket75-8 mode'sinspect the thermostat for proper operation8Check all of the powerhead screws for proper torque28070
