STEPIGNITION MODULE CRANKING TEST

spark tester
I:A To prevent accidental starting of the engine, twist and

1Set PRV to "NEG" and "500"Twist and pull the primary leads off the ignition coil2Install terminal extenders on the primary terminals by twisting in clockwise direction3Attach the primary leads to the terminal extendersf1214To test the ignition module output to the No.1 (top) ignition coil, connect the meter black lead to clean engine groundConnect the meter red lead to metal part of extender on No1 ignition coilCrank the engine and observe the meter reading Meter should indicate 125 volts or higherf1215If meter reads less than 125 volts, remove the primary lead from the terminal extenderConnect the meter red lead to spring clip in boot of the primary leadCrank the engine and observe the meter reading If meter reads 125 volts or higher, test the ignition coil as described on Page 3-10 If the meter reads below 125 volts, check condition of spring clip and primary wire If problem with the wire or spring clip is found, correct the problem and retest the ignition module output If the condition of the wire and spring clip is acceptable, replace the ignition module6Test the ignition module output to the No2 ignition coil as described above
