Fuel Pump Servicing Before replacing suspect fuel pump, remove and clean the fuel filter and install new filter elementAlso, remove the fuel hose from the fuel tank and blow through all passages and hoses with low-pressure compressed air to be sure they are openThis might be the cause of inadequate fuel deliveryIf this procedure does not correct the trouble, test the fuel pumpTo service filter, loosen the screw and remove the cover Wash filter element

with clean solvent and brush
Install filter with its lip facing the gasket

Install the cover and tighten its screw securelyFunction Test

Conduct this test with the motor in test tank or on the boatBefore testing, loosen fuel tank gas cap momentarily to release any pressure that may have built upFuel tank must not be more than 30 in(76 cm) below fuel pumprl1Remove carburetor to fuel pump hoseConnect fuel pressure gauge (obtain locally) between the carburetor and fuel pump41145
