r:J3l 12Remove the pinion, thrust washers, and thrust bearing from the gearcase13Inspect the upper end of the shift rod for burrsRemove the burrs using 400 grit wet or dry sandpaperSlide the shift rod out of the gearcase1141 14Remove all components from the propeller shaft except the clutch dogInspect the components for excessive wearr:J5l 15Slide the clutch dog forward and off the propeller shaftBe careful not to lose the two detent balls and the spring 16Mount the gearcase head in suitable bearing separator
