3Coat the driveshaft splines with OMC Moly LubeDo not coat top surface of the driveshaft as the lubricant here may prevent seating of the driveshaft in the crankshaftCoat upper shift rod with OMC Triple-Guard grease4Temporarily install the upper shift rod connector on the gearcase lower shift rod5Install the gearcase onto the exhaust housingGuide the water tube into the water tube grommet and see that the driveshaft engages the crankshaftRotate the flywheel, if necessaryr;;;l6Apply OMC Gasket Sealing Compound to the threads of the gearcase and extension retaining screws and threads of the gearcase studPlace lock washers on the screws and the studInstall and tighten the screws and one nut to torque of 192-216 inIbs(22-25 Nm)When installing gearcase to gearcase extension, do not tighten the retaining screws until the gearcase and the extension have been placed in proper position with the exhaust housing and powerhead assembly607Slide the upper connector half onto the upper shift rod and install the plastic keeper 1'6118Move the shift lever until the upper shift rod engages the lower shift rod connectorWhile holding the lower shift rod connector, tighten the upper shift rod connector securely629Install the port and starboard water intake screens with water intake holes facing rear of gearcaseTighten the two screen retaining screws securely 6310Install the propeller as follows:
