26Thoroughly clean and degrease the crankcase mating flange of the cylinder block with OMC Cleaning Solvent and let air dry27Apply Locquic Primer to the mating flange of the crankcase and let air dryf181 28Apply Gel-Seal lito the cylinder block flangeThe application must cover the flange evenly and consistently without being excessiveThe application must not come within 14 in(6,4 mm) of the labyrinth seals or bearingsGel-Seal II has shelf life of at least one year when stored at room temperatureTest the Gel-Seal II or replace it if the age ofthe tube can not be determinedUsing old Gel-Sealllcouid cause crankcase air leaks
29Lower the crankcase into place
30Lightly coat threads of the six main bearing screws with OMC Gel-Seal IIInstall the screws finger tight31When the crankcase is seated, install and firmly seat the crankcase taper pin
32Install crankcase flange screws finger tightr:p;1 33Using soft face mallet, lightly tap bottom of the crankshaft to seat the lower main bearingCheck for binding between the crankshaft and the bearings on the connecting rods by rotating the crankshaft with the flywheel
