bearing housingDo not coat inside bearing housing bore surface of the gearcaseUsing OMC Driveshaft Seal Protector PIN 312403,slide the driveshaft bearing housing onto the driveshaft19Install the pinion and the driveshaft as followsPull up on the shift rod to engage the FORWARD gear position Degrease tapers of the pinion and the driveshaftInstall the pinion and the driveshaft in the gearcase Using OMC Pinion Nut Holder PIN 320675, start the pinion nut onto the driveshaft While holding the pinion nut with an 11 16 inopen-end wrench and the driveshaft with OMC Driveshaft Holding Socket PIN 334995, tighten the pinion nut to torque of 40-45 ftIbs(54-60 Nm)Pad handle of the wrench to prevent damage to the gearcaseOvertorquing or undertorquing of the pinion nut will reduce pinion lifeIf application of proper torque causes nut to "strip" do not use nutReplace with new pinion nut
