26 '" 1OInstall detent rollerdetent shoeand detent spring into housingTo prevent possible eye injury from detent spring, wear safety glasses while installing shift and throttle plate27 11Place spring washer onto splined hub of shift and throttle plate 28 12Be sure shift and throttle plate is cleanInstall shift and throttle plate bushing into housingRetract detent spring and install shift and throttle plateTeeth of shift and throttle plate must engage teeth of shift lever assembly28 13Place neutral start switch mounting plate in positionInstall neutral start switch with two screwsTighten screws to torque of 15-20 inIbs(1,7-2,3 Nm)28 14Install fricti?n adjust.ment lever with friction adjustment screw Into hOUSing1281 15Install retainer plate CD into housingTighten screw to torque of 25-35 inIbs(2,8-3,9 Nm)16Check to be sure no wires are pinchedLubricate shift lever post and three assembly screws with OMC Triple-Guard grease17Reassemble two halves of remote control, taking care to properly pilot the electrical cable grommet into the housingTighten screws to torque of 40-50 inIbs(4,6-5,5 Nm)18Pull up on the neutral lock slide, and install handle spline into spline of remote control so slide will engage notch of index plateInstall hex head screwTighten screw to torque of 100-120 inIbs(11-14 Nm) i notch in index plate when control is in NEUTRAL shift
