STEPIGNITION MODULE RUNNING TEST Make all running tests at the engine RPM where the intermittent or high speed ignition problem existsThe correct RPM can have an effect on identifying the problemall tester leads so they do not interfere with moving engine parts1Set PRV to "NEG" and "500"Twist and pull the primary leads off the ignition coilTurning in clockwise direction, attach terminal extenders to the primary terminals of the coilReconnect primary leads to terminal extendersObserve wire routing: orangeblue lead to the No.1 (top) cylinderall tester leads so they do not interfere with moving engine parts2Connect meter black lead to clean engine groundStart engine and run at RPM where problem existsr:Jil3Hold the meter red lead against metal part of the No.1 coil extenderDo not hold metal part of meter lead when engine is operatingStop the engine Meter should indicate continuous reading of 150 volts or higherr::-=lN The voltage reading must be steady at constant engine 4If meter reads less than 150 volts, remove the No.1 ignition coil primary leadConnect the meter red lead to spring clip in boot of primary leadRemove No.2 spark plug lead from spark plug and connect to spark testerCrank engine and observe meter If meter reads 125 volts or higher, test the ignition coil as described on Page 3-10 If meter reads less than 125 volts, replace the ignition module5Test the ignition module output to No2 ignition coil as described above6Turn the extender in clockwise direction to remove it7Install ignition module primary leads on ignition coil terminalsObserve proper wire routing: orangeblue lead to the No1 ignition coil
