avoid damaging components or troubleshooting equipment, disconnect the battery cables before proceeding1Remove steering housing cover 2the forwardreverse switch and bracket to access terminals
3Use continuity light or ohmmeter calibrated on high ohms scale to test continuity4 Turn speed control switch to the "OFF" position 5With the switch in "FORWARD" (toggle away from handle on bow mount or toggle toward handle on transom mount): Meter must show continuity between the RED and WH ITE leads Meter must show continuity between the two BLACK leads Meter must show no continuity between any lead and the switch 's case6With the switch in "REVERSE" (toggle toward handle on bow mount or toggle away from handle on transom mount): Meter must show continuity between the center BLACK lead and WHITE lead Meter must show continuity between the end BLACK lead and the RED lead Meter must show no continuity between any lead and the switch 's case Replace switch if your test results vary7Refer to Section for assembly information
