Function TestsS.L.DWV6 engines equipped with 35 amp stators incorporate the 5.L.0WTM warning system, which gradually limits engine speed to approximately 2500 RPM when engine temperature exceeds 203 (95 C)To resume normal operation after the 5.L.oWsystem has activated, allow the engine to cool to 1620 (72 C) and turn it offThe 5.L.0Wwarning system depends on input from either temperature switch tan leadThe 5.L.oWsystem is isolated from other warning horn signals by blocking diode in the engine wiring harnessTemperature Switch 1Disconnect the port and starboard temperature switch tan leads2Install correct test propellerStart engine in test tank and run at 3500 RPM3Attach the port engine harness tan lead to clean engine ground Engine must slow to approximately 2500 RPM 4Stop the engine5Start the engine and repeat Steps and using the starboard tan lead Engine must slow to approximately 2500 RPM If Steps and are normal, test the temperature switchRefer to Temperature Switch Test, Section If one of the tests is normal, check the engine harness and connectors If neither test is normal, go to Step 66Separate the 6-pin Amphenol connector between the stator and power packr,l 7Calibrate ohmmeter on appropriate scaleAlternately, attach meter leads between stator connector terminals "E", "F", and clean engine ground Meter must show high reading8Attach meter leads between stator connector terminals "E" and "F" If meter shows 96 10 ohms, replace power pack If your test results vary, replace stator
