STEPPOWER PACK TEST

it To prevent accidental starting of engine while testing, twist and remove all spark plug leads1Twist and remove all primary leads from ignition coilsr:J3l 2Connect No1 ignition coil primary lead to Stevens Instrument load adapter NoPL-88 red lead Connect adapter black lead to clean engine groundIf Stevens Instrument NoPL-88 is not available, you can make an adapter using 10-ohm, 10-watt resistor, Radio Shack No271 -132, or equivalent3Set peak-reading voltmeter to "POS" and "500"
] 4Connect voltmeter red lead to adapter red lead and meter black lead to clean engine ground 5Crank engine and observe meter Meter must show 175 volts or higher6Repeat Steps thru for remaining ignition coil primary leads If all primary leads have good output, test ignition coilsRefer to Ignition Coil Tests, Page 3-10 If one primary lead has no output, replace power packRefer to Ignition Component Replacement, Page 3-187Remove load adapter and install ignition coil primary leadsObserve proper wire routing and ignition timingConnect orangeblue leads to top ignition coils, orange leads to center ignition coils, and orangegreen leads to bottom ignition coils
