Installation 1Coat the driveshaft splines with OMC Moly Lube greaseDo not coat top surface of the driveshaft as lubricant here may prevent seating of the driveshaft in the crankshaft2Check to make sure the gearcase and the shift lever on the engine are in the FORWARD position 14213Oil, then place two new O-rings on the impeller housing
spacer Slide the spacer down the driveshaft and into position on the impeller housingPosition tabs of the spacer to face rear of the gearcase4If removed, lubricate both ends of the water tube with OMC Triple-Guard grease and install the straight end in the inner exhaust housing guideBring the gearcase into position Be sure to engage the crankshaft splines with the driveshaft splines; be sure the water tube enters the water tube grommet; and be sure the lower shift rod engages the shift rod connector5Apply OMC Gasket Sealing Compound to threads of the gearcase and extension retaining screwsInstall and tighten the screws to torque of 192-216 inIbs(22-25 Nm)Apply OMC Locquic Primer then OMC Nut Lockto threads of the gearcase and extension studInstall the nut and tighten to torque of 45-50 ftIbs(61-68 Nm)When installing gearcase onto gearcase extension, do not tighten the retaining screws until the gearcase and the extension have been placed in proper position with the exhaust housing and powerhead assembly
