Exhaust Housing Servicing9.9, 15 Removal and Disassembly
1Remove the powerhead as described in Section 42Remove the gearcase as described in Section 6f11 3Remove the screw and the clip retaining the shift lever to the bellcrank f11 4Remove the two screws with lock washers retaining the shift leverPull the shift lever out of the lower engine coverf11 5Remove the cotter pin Disengage the upper shift rod from the bellcrank and remove the rodOn electric start models, remove the cable and clamp from the inside of port stern bracket6Lift the lower engine cover off the exhaust housingf21 7Remove the two lower mount bracket screwsRemove the port and starboard lower mount brackets with two lateral mounts1Jl 8Remove the two idle relief muffler screwsRemove the muffler and discard gasket'4l 9Remove the two upper mount to steering bracket screws and mount link Separate the exhaust housing from the swivel bracket assembly1sl 10Remove the lower thrust mountshift rod grommetand exhaust housing to lower engine cover seal CD!sl 11 Remove the four screws (two port and two starboard) retaining the two upper mounts to the exhaust housingRemove the two upper mounts Q) and the thrust mount Remove the upper mount seal
