Installation 1.jl 1Apply Permatex No2 gasket sealant to inner exhaust housing flange 2Install new base gasket on adapterCoat both sides with OMC Gasket Sealing CompoundTo ensure proper sealing, mating surfaces must be clean and free of oil, grease and foreign matter3Coat the driveshaft splines with OMC Moly Lube leaving top of driveshaft clear
Using hoist, slowly lower powerhead onto exhaust hous-
i torque to 65-70 ftIbs(88-95 Nm)
5Install two steering arm to upper mount screws and
6Apply OMC Gasket Sealing Compound to the threaded portion of the powerhead to exhaust housing screwsLoosely install all fasteners7Torque the six large screws retaining the powerhead to the exhaust housing to 25-35 ftIbs(34-47 Nm)8Torque the five small screws retaining the powerhead to exhaust housing to 60-84 inIbs(7-9 Nm)In order to achieve proper sealing and prevent gasket damage, the powerhead mounting screws must be retorqued after engine has reached operating temperature and has been allowed to cool
