9-91sl 4With engine in NEUTRAL, install the shift cable to the shift lever using the pin and cotter clip as shownf71 5Rotate the propeller shaft and shift the gearcase into 6Move the remote control handle to full throttle in FORWARD7Apply liberal amount of OMC Triple-Guard grease to anchor block pocketIsl SPull firmly on cable casing to remove backlash and adjust cable trunnion nut to locate in anchor pocket9Temporarily install the anchor pocket cover and screw 10Shift the remote control to NEUTRALIf the gearcase has been servicedverify the powerhead neutral detent adjustmentRefer to Installation, Section 6r,Q1 11 The neutral detent must be in NEUTRAL (center position) when the control lever is in NEUTRAL12Remove the shift cable from anchor pocket and verify that the gearcase is in its neutral detentReinstall shift cable into anchor pocket and install the anchor pocket cover and screwTorque the screw to 60-S4 inIbs(7-9 Nm)If there are not enough threads on the shift cable to allow the adjustment in Step 12, or if the gearcase detent does not correspond with remote control NEUTRAL in Step 11, refer to Section for shift rod height adjustmentWhen installing OMC Accessory Controls, except for prewired surface mount, the shift cable must be adjusted and installed when the control and engine are NEUTRAL13Slip rubber grommet onto Gontrol cables and press grommet into groove in lower engine cover
