INote Position items, and exactly in order shown5859 19Lightly apply OMC Gasket Sealin9Compound to the gearcase area that contacts mountmg flange of the bearing housingDo not coat inside bearing housing bore surface of the gearcaseUsing driveshaft OMC Seal Protector, PIN 316614, slide the driveshaft bearing housing onto the driveshaft20Install the pinion and the driveshaft as follows: Pull up on the shift rod to engage the FORWARD gear position Degrease tapers of the pinion and the driveshaftInstall the pinion and the driveshaft into the gearcase Lightly coat the threads of the pinion nut with outboard lubricantUsing OMC Pinion Nut Holder PIN 320675start the pinion nut onto the driveshaft While holding the pinion nut with an 1116 in open-end wrench and the driveshaft with an OMC Driveshaft Holding Socket PIN 316612, tighten the pinion nut to torque of 40-45 ftIbs(54-60 Nm) Pad handle of the wrench to prevent damage to the gearcaseote
