Maximum Spark Advance Adjustment
Run the engine with the proper test wheelDo not run the engine with propeller or flushing adapter for the adjustment1Connect timing light to the top cylinder's spark plug lead
2Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperatureRun the engine at no less than 5000 RPM in FORWARD with timer base fully advanced3The engine's timing pointer must align with 19 BTDC on flywheel's timing gridMaximum Spark Advance 45, 55
4Stop the engine to prevent contact with rotating partsRemove the spark advance rod Bend rod ends together to advance timing; bend rod ends apart to retard timing5Install the spark advance rod and recheck timing per steps and 3Wide Open Throttle Stop Adjustment 1With the engine not running, advance the throttle control to wide open position14 2Pins in the carburetor shafts must be exactly verticalr:j5l 3To adjust, loosen the wide open stop screw nutTurn the stop screw until pins are verticalTighten the nutShift Lever Detent Adjustment 1Move the shift lever to NEUTRAL position
