Manual Starter Servicing3, 4 Removal 1Remove upper engine cover
i twist and remove spark plug leads
'" 2To avoid accidental starting of engine while servicing,
[!J 3Remove three screws retaining starter housingill this time because starter spring will disengage and unwind
forciblyReplacement of Starter Rope 1Pull out starter rope and tie slip knot to relieve spring tension while removing handleUntie knot in end of rope and remove handle and bumperf31 2Pull starter rope out to limitHold pulley firmly so it will not rewind and release slip knotWhile still holding pulley firmly, remove rope by pulling knotted end of rope from pulleyCarefully allow pulley to slowly rotate until it is fully unwound3Cut new rope to length of 59'2 in(151 em)Fuse both endsKnot one end of rope
