pinionPlace thrust washer with inside chamfered edge against pinionThen place thrust bearing on pinionPosition thrust washer with chamfered outside edge on the pinion with the chamfered edge away from pinionPlace the gearcase in the position shown and install pinion

Insert the propeller shaft into the forward gearPull up sharply on the shaft and you will feel the forward gear snap into positionRemove the propeller shaftPosition the reverse gear and thrust washer on the propeller shaftThe outside chamfered edge of thrust washer goes toward the shoulder on the propeller shaft16Install the spring and plunger into the propeller shaft17Apply OMC Needle Bearing Assembly Grease to two of the detent balls
