f171 14Inspect the driveshaft bearing in placeIf necessary, remove the bearing and sleeve using the slide hammer and OMC Two-Jaw Puller, PIN 391012The jaws of the puller must be reversed so the jaw tips are facing inwardUse stiff rubber band to keep the jaws togetherr:J8l 15Inspect the pinion bearing in placeIf necessary, remove bearing using OMC Bearing Remover PIN 319880Place shop cloth inside the gearcase to catch the bearing and toolIf pinion bearing is removed for any reason, it must be replaced'19l 16Temporarily install the gearcase head into the gearcase with the two screws, finger tightUsing OMC Small Puller Assembly PIN 432131, remove propeller shaft sealWhen installing the puller on the seals, be sure the jaws catch the seals and not the bushing in the gearcase head20 17Remove the driveshaft seals from the gearcase cover using OMC Puller Bridge, PIN 432127 and OMC Small Puller, PIN 43213118Remove the shift rod bushing from the gearcase cover by prying it out with the shift rodRemove and discard O-ring :;j
