Break-In Procedure Standard Fuel TankUse 25: fueloil mixture for the first 12 gallons of fuelOptional AccuMixTankUse 50: fueloil mixture in addition to the AccuMix system for the first 12 gallons of fuelTo help ensure long engine life and prevent serious engine damage, using additional oil in the fuel is mandatory during the first few hours of operation of: new engine used engine with new powerhead used engine with newly rebuilt powerhead Note DO NOT operate motor out of waterWater pump can be damaged or engine can overheatFirst 20 Minutes _ Operate engine in gear at fast idle ONLYDO NOT exceed 1500 RPM Verify water pump operation by looking for steady stream of water at the water pump indicatorNext 40 Minutes DO NOT operate engine above throttle (no more than 3500 RPM)
DO NOT hold constant throttle settingChange engine speed every 15 minutesboats, use full throttle to quickly accelerate boat onto planeImmediately reduce throttle to one-half as soon as boat is on planeBE SURE boat remains on plane at this throttle settingNext Nine Hours _Bring boat onto plane and operate engine below 3f4 throttleDO NOT EXCEED 4500 RPMEvery 30 minutes, operate engine at full throttle for approximately one minute DO NOT exceed recommended maximum engine RPMRefer to Specifications, this sectionRetorque cylinder head screws after engine break-in periodRetorque after engine has been run and cylinder heads have cooled to the touchAfter 10 hours of break-in, check oil level in the AccuMix reservoir to verify that oil is being consumed to ensure proper lubrication of engineAdd oil to refill AccuMix reservoir before switching from 50: fueloil mixture to clear fuel
