Gearcase Service Removal

i and remove all spark plug leadsDisconnect battery cables
at the battery
'" 1Avoid accidental starting of engine while servicing; twist

f1l 2Rotate the propeller shaft and shift the gearcase to FORWARDRemove the shift rod link retaining pin3Push the shift rod link toward the powerhead to disengage the shift rod 3If equipped, remove the trim tab from the gearcaserJl 4Using 5S inthin wall socket, remove the screw with the flat washer5Using gAs insocket, remove screw 6Remove the four gearcase retaining screws7Remove the gearcase assembly from the exhaust housing, being careful not to bend the shift rod The lower inner exhaust housing may come out with the gearcaseSecure the gearcase in suitable holding fixture
