r:J8l 16Position top end of the connecting rod over the wrist pin with oil hole in the rod facing upApply OMC Needle Bearing Assembly Grease to the 28 needle bearingsInstall the bearings into the connecting rod1.j9l 17Carefully lift the connecting rod, wrist pin bearing, and the lower thrust washer off the wrist pin without disturbing the needlesAdd the upper thrust washer, flat side up, and place the assembly inside the pistonReference figure 19 shows correct orientation of the two thrust washersCarefully align all pieces and push the wrist pin downward1201 18Finish installing the wrist pin through the connecting rod and the piston until the wrist pin contacts the installed retaining ringCheck to be sure none of the needle bearings have been disturbed and pushed out of the connecting rodInstall the second retaining ring following Step 13Repeat this procedure for each remaining piston and connecting rodf211 19When all pistons and connecting rods are assembled, install piston ring setsInstall each piston ring set on the piston that was used to test the ring set clearancesINotel Before continuing, be certain all OMC Gel Seal II has been removed from the cylinder block and crankcase mating flangesIf traces of hardened OMC Gel Seal II are left in place, main bearing misalignment might occurRefer to Cleaning, this Section 1191
