Lightly coat the exterior of the impeller cup with OMC Gasket Sealing CompoundInstall the impeller and cup into the impeller body making sure the tabs on the cup are in the slot in the pump body Oil the water pump grommet and install it in the pump housing as shown Carefully turn the pump body to line up the screw holes with those in the gearcase Apply OMC Gasket Sealing Compound to water pump screwsTighten screws to torque of 25-35 inIbs(2,8-4,0 Nm)Installation
i twist and remove spark plug lead
1To avoid accidental starting of engine while servicing,
2Apply oil or liquid soap in the water tube grommet3Coat the driveshaft splines with OMC Moly LubeDo not coat top surface of driveshaft as lubricant here may prevent seating of driveshaft in crankshaft4Install the gearcase using care to align water tube in grommet and driveshaft splines with the crankshaftTurn the flywheel clockwise to align the driveshaft and the crankshaftAlways turn the flywheel in clockwise direction ONLY to avoid water pump impeller damage5Apply OMC Nut Lock to the threads of the gearcase retaining screwsInstall the screws and tighten screws to torque of 60-84 inIbs(7-9 Nm)6Apply light film of OMC Triple-Guard grease to the propeller shaft and install the propeller, using new drive and cotter pins
