25Install the lower bearing retaining ring with BEVELED EDGE OUTThe gap of retaining ring must be centered around the oil hole in the front of the crankcase26 Apply GMC Gasket Sealing Compound to the outside diameter of new lower crankshaft seal Install the seal with lip facing up towards flywheel, until seal bottoms on the retaining ring27Check for binding between the crankshaft and the bearings or connecting rods by rotating the crankshaft with the flywheel
Apply GMC Gasket Sealing Compound to both sides of new cylinder head gasketGasket has boss to match the cylinder headInstall the cylinder head and torque the screws in stages to 60-84 in Ibs(7-9 Nm), following sequence shown29Apply GMC Gasket Sealing Compound to new exhaust cover gasketInstall the exhaust coverTighten the screws to torque of 25-35 inIbs(3 -4 Nm), starting with the center screws30Install the intake manifold and leaf plate assembly using new gasketDo not apply sealer to the gasketTighten the screws to torque of 60-84 inIbs(7-9 Nm)
