Electric Starter Servicing, 2030 Removal
INote Disconnect the battery cables at the battery[TI
1Disconnect all the leads from the starter solenoid2Remove the vertical throttle shaft clamp screws and clamp
3Remove the screws and washers retaining the starter bracket to the side of the powerheadNote that the ground lead attaches to the lower screw and has lock washer
r:1l 4Remove the locknut and washer retaining the starter
bracket to the front of the powerheadLift the starter bracket from the powerhead5If necessary, loosen the solenoid clamp screws and remove the solenoid from the starter bracketAlso, remove the red lead from the starter motorDisassembly 1Remove two thru-bolts from starter motorr:;] 2Tap the commutator end cap and carefully remove it to prevent the loss of four springs under the two ground brushes and insulated brushes
