Electric Start System Check9.9 and 15
"'" To avoid accidental starting of engine while servicing, twist and remove all spark plug leads
Battery must be fully chargedBattery connections must be clean and tight1Remove the fuel pump for access to the neutral start switch terminalsPlace the shift control lever in "Neutral
2Connect the black lead of voltmeter to the engine groundConnect the red lead of the voltmeter to point on the neutral start switch Press the start switch button Battery voltage should be indicatedIf no voltage is indicated, move the voltmeter red lead to point If voltage is indicated, the lead between and must be replaced

,f no voltage at pointdisconnect the start switch leads at pointsand Check the start switch and leads for continuityWith ohmmeter calibrated on low ohms scale, check continuity as follows: Connect one ohmmeter lead to point and other ohmmeter lead to point Press start switch buttonMeter should show very low reading (zero)If meter does not show very low reading (zero), leads or switch are open and switch must be replaced 4Connect one lead of meter to point and other lead of meter to point on the battery positive cablePress start switch buttonMeter should show continuityReconnect switch leads
