7Wind the starter rope counterclockwise around the pulley, and install the pinion springBe sure to place loop of pinion spring over tab of cupInstallation 1If installed, remove the nut from the mounting screw2Spray mounting screw threads with OMC Locquic PrimerApply OMC Screw Lock to threads of screw3Hold the pulley and rewind spring in cup and position starter on bracketThread mounting screw into the bracketINotel The index tab
must be positioned in hole
f101 Torque the starter retaining screw to 24-26 ftIbs
(32-35 Nm)r:J1l Thread the starter rope through eyelet in the lower engine cover, and pull the rope out all the wayWith rope fully extended, the starter spring end must be free to extend minimum of in(12 mm) from the cupIf correction is necessary, allow the starter rope to rewind on the pulleyUnwind the rope from the pulley one turn or as necessary to relieve spring tensionRecheckIf okay, tie temporary knot to relieve spring tension while installing the handle1.J2l 6Thread the starter rope through the bumper and handleTie knot in the rope as shownSeat knot in cavity of the handleRelease the temporary knot and allow starter rope to rewind normally7Install the air silencer to the powerheadf.J3l 8If removed, replace screw holding the starter lockout the control shaft using new screw on reassembly
