Functional Test Conduct this test on the motor in test tank or on the boatBefore testing, loosen fuel tank gas cap momentarily to release any pressure that may have built upFuel tank must not be more than 24 in(61 cm) below fuel pump1Remove carburetor to fuel pump hoseConnect fuel pressure gauge (obtain locally) between the carburetor and fuel pump_ _.J

2Start motor and observe gaugePump pressures should read as belowPressure RPM 600 2500-3000 4500 PSI 1.5 2.5 kPa 10 17

3If fuel pump does not meet these specifications, replace fuel pumpFuel Pump Replacement Avoid pulling "E.S1763" fuel line off fuel fittingsPush off wherever possibleWhen removing "E.S1763" fuel line from fittings, carefully cut the hose to avoid damaging the fittings1Remove and discard tie straps from fuel pump hosesModels using hose clamps use OMC Hose Clamp Wrench PIN 325043 to release clampsRemove the hoses from the fuel pump, observing hose locations for reassembly2Remove the fuel pump mounting screwsIf equipped with gasket, discard the gasket3Connect the hoses to the fuel pumpBe sure the hoses are fully engaged on the fuel pump nipplesSecure the fuel hose with new tie straps using OMC Tie Strap Installation Tool PIN 3237164 Remove all old adhesive from fuel pump mounting screwsApply GMC Locquic Primer and GMC Nut Lock to the threads of the screwsIf gasket is required between the fuel pump and the crankcase, install the gasketTighten the mounting screws to torque of 24-36 in Ibs(2,8-4,4 Nm)5If removed, install the cover with lip of screen facing the fuel pumpTighten the outer screw to torque of 10-15 inIbs(1,11,7 Nm)Be sure the hose is fully engaged on the fuel cover nipple and secure the hose with new tie strap6Check for leaks by connecting fuel tank line to motor and squeezing primer bulb until definite pressure is felt in the bulbr;:t:l It is recommended that new fuel filter element and gasket be installed when servicing the filter and pump assembly
