Starter Lockout Adjustment

1To prevent accidental starting of engine while servicing, twist and remove all spark plug leads
2Shift the engine into NEUTRAL position
1521 3Check the lockout adjustmentThe mark on the lockout
slide should be aligned with the center of the lever tang4If necessary, adjust the lockout cable as follows: With the engine in NEUTRAL position, loosen both cable clamps Adjust the cable so the mark on the lockout slide aligns with the center of the lever tang Tighten both cable clamps5Check the starter lockout as follows: With the engine in NEUTRAL position the starter must operate With the engine in FORWARD and REVERSE, the starter must not operate6If the starter lockout does not function correctly after adjustment, replace the lockout levers as described in Manual Starter Servicing, this Section
