STEPIGNITION MODULE CRANKING TEST To prevent accidental starting ofthe engine, twist and remove the spark plug leads from the spark plugs and attach to spark tester1Set C.Dvoltmeter to "_" and "500 Twist and pull the primary leads off the ignition coil2Install terminal extenders on the primary terminals by twisting in clockwise direction3Attach the primary leads to the terminal extenderscoil, connect the meter black lead to clean engine groundConnect the meter red lead to metal part of extender on No1 ignition coilCrank the engine and observe the meter reading Meter should indicate 125 volts or higher's1 5If meter reads less than 125 volts, remove the primary lead the terminal extenderConnect the meter red lead to spring clip in boot of the primary leadCrank the engine and observe the meter reading If meter reads 125 volts or higher, test the ignition coil as described on Page 3-10 If the meter reads below 125 volts, check condition of spring clip and primary wire If problem with the wire or spring clip is found, correct the problem and retest the ignition module output If the condition of the wire and spring clip is acceptable, replace the ignition moduleDR1789
