1281 12Be sure shift and throttle plate are free of dirt and gritInstall shift and throttle plate bushing into housingRetract detent spring and install shift and throttle plateTeeth of shift and throttle plate must engage teeth of shift lever assembly
1281 13Place neutral start switch mounting plate in position Install neutral start switch with two screwsTighten screws to torque of 15-20 inIbs(1,7-2,3 Nm)

adjust.ment lever with friction adjustment screw Into hOUSing
1281 15Install retainer plate CD to housingTighten screw to torque of 25-35 inIbs(2,8-3,9 Nm)16Check to be sure no wires are being pinchedLubricate shift
lever post and three assembly screws with OMC Triple-Guard grease
