9 Remove the propeller shaft and reverse gear components 10Using magnetic tool, locate and remove the two shifter detent balls and one detent spring from the gearcase11Remove pivot pin from gearcaseDiscard the O-ring 12Unscrew the shift rod and remove it from the gearcase13Using pair of long-nose pliers, remove the clutch dog from the gearcase14Remove the pinion, two thrust washers, and thrust bearing15Use long-nose pliers to remove the forward gear and shifter lever assemblyUse no forceTilting the shifter lever slightly will allow you to remove it from the gearcase
