'" Wear safety glasses while disassembling and assembling
1Pull the starter rope out far enough to tie slip knot in the ropePry the starter rope anchor out of the handle Remove the handle, release the slip knot, and ease the pulley back until the rewind spring is fully unwound2Remove the spindle screw nut
3Remove the spindle screwspindle washerspindletwo spring washersand friction ring
4Remove the two retaining rings CD and lift both pawls, links and friction plate as an assemblyRemove the spindle bushing Q) and shim
5Hold the pulley in the starter housing while turning the starter over, legs down Hold fingers clear of the pulley and jar the starter housing against bench to dislodge the rewind spring and pulleyCOA134 1
