2Remove the flywheelRefer to Removal of Flywheel3Remove the armature plate as described in Removal of Armature Plate 4If replacing the charge coil, terminals "A" and "D" must be removed from the armature plate connectorTo replace the sensor coil, remove terminals "8" and "C" from the armature plate connector 1251 1261 1261
5 Remove the cover plate
from the bottom of the armature
6Next, remove the clamp retaining the leads
on top of the armature plate
7Remove the screws securing the charge coil or sensor coil Pull the coil and lead assembly from the insulation sleeve and armature plateInstallation 1Lubricate the insulation sleeve with isopropyl alcohol and insert the coil leads through the armature plate and sleeve to the connector 2Install the terminals into the connector3 Position the charge coil and sensor coil on the armature plate and insert the mount screws just finger tight

4 Correct locating of the coil assembly is governed by machined mounting surfaces on the armature plateThe outside edges of the charge coil and sensor coil must be flush with the machined surfaces on the armature plate to prevent contact with the flywheel magnet and provide maximum output from the coils Alignment of the charge coil, sensor coil, and stator assembly will be simplified when using OMC Coil Locating Ring PI 317001 CD machined to fit over the armature plate bossesWith the coil locating ring CD in position over the armature plate bosses, pull the coil toward the ring, and tighten the coil mounting screws to torque of 15-22 inIbs(1,6-2,4 Nm)5 Install the clamp on top of the armature plate to position the charge coil and sensor coil leads6 Slide the insulation sleeve to the armature plate to protect the coil leads and install the cover on the bottom of the armature plate Line up the notch in the plate with the notch on the cover during installation 7Install the armature plateRefer to Installation of Armature Plate
