Troubleshooting Trim Gauge
INoter This procedure is to be used with the fold-out wiring schematic located at the end of this section
'NoteITo avoid immediate meter damage, never apply an ohmmeter
to an electrical circuit where voltage is present1Turn key switch ON and use voltmeter to check for voltage between trim gauge terminals "I" and "G If voltage, go to Step If no voltage, go to Step 2
2With key switch ON, check for voltage between trim gauge "G" terminal and Point V8 If voltage, check condition of accessory harness purple 16 gauge lead If no voltage, go to Step 33With key switch ON, check for voltage at key switch "A" terminal If voltage, check condition of remote control purple 16 gauge leads If no voltage, check condition of key switch and engine harness 20 amp fuse PIN 5108844Turn key switch OFFRemove trim harness leads from gauge terminals "S" and "G Calibrate an ohmmeter on low ohms scale and connect between the leadsTest results should be engine fully downapproximately 88 ohms, engine fully upapproximately ohm If your values are the same, replace trim gauge If your test results vary, go to Step 55Repeat test in Step at connector C3 If your test results are correct, check condition of trim harness and connector If your test results vary, replace trim sending unit
