3Remove the shoulder screw assembly to the housing retaining the starter lockout
4Remove the nut from the starter pawl retaining screw5Remove the starter pawl retaining screw
, washerstarter pawl plate with plate return spring from the starter assembly
6Remove the starter housing spring and the starter pawl
with spring washer CD from the starter assembly
7Using screwdriver, pry open the pulley lockring Q)and
remove ring from the starter
8Remove the friction plate and friction plate spring washer (h) 9Hold the pulley in the starter housing while turning the starter over, legs downHold fingers clear of the pulley and jar the starter housing against bench to dislodge the rewind spring and pulleyRemove the pulley bushing from the pulley10Remove the rope guide shoulder screw and guide the starter housingCleaning and Inspection
