the propeller shaft, pry the clutch dog retainer spring out of the clutch dog groove and push out the clutch dog pin Discard the retainer spring
13Push out the shift lever pindisengage the shifter shaft and cradle from the shift leverand remove the shift lever14Rotate the shift detent lever 180 to depress the detent ball and springBall and spring can pop out with great forceWear safety glasses for eye protection and proceed with carePull the shifter detent from the bearing housing being prepared to catch the ball and spring15The forward bearing and cup are serviced as an assemblyIf r,epl.acementis necessary, proceed as follows: Remove the cup from the bearing housing by tapping on the cup with punch and mallet Remove the cone and roller assembly from the forward gear using OMC Forward Gear Bearing Remover PIN 387205 and OMC Pressing Pilot PIN 320898Clamp the remover around the cone and roller so that lip of tool is under ends of the rollerSupport the remover between two parallel barsPress the forward gear out with the pressing pilot D231 Oil, then install the new cup into the forward gear bearing housing using OMC Bearing Cup Installer PIN 320670 and an arbor pressBefore installing the cup, be sure the housing bore is absolutely clean and has no burrs that would prevent the cup from seating properlyPress the cup into the housing until the installer is seated
