1 Before assembling the pinion to the drives haft, degrease Note tapers on both parts
)381 Install the pinion Tighten the pinion nut to torque of 40-45 ftIbs(54-60 Nm)
Assemble the driveshaft bearing housingthrust washerand thrust bearing onto the drives haftUse OMC Driveshaft Seal Protector PIN 312403 whenever installing or removing the bearing housing
3Use OMC Gauge PI 328366 and OMC Collar PIN 328363
13914Slide the collar onto the driveshaft with large end in
contact with the bearing housingand tighten preload screw CD against the driveshaft until groove Q) on the spring-loaded plunger is flush with end of threadsTighten locking ring on preload screw
139114015Insert the assembled driveshaft into the tool base (8),
6Rotate the driveshaft several revolutions to seat bearing
14117Lay the tool base on its sidePosition the correct shim
