Inspection 1Inspect the leaf plate assemblies for damage The gasket surface must be flat, .003 in (0,08 mm) The leaf plates must not be distorted BJ The leaf tips must not be cracked or chipped The leaf plate stops must not be loose or distorted2Inspect the intake manifold All gasket surfaces must be smooth and free of nicks Use machinist's straightedge to check for flatness in all directionsThe mounting surface must be flat, .004 in (0,10 mm)

Assembly
1Place leaf valves on leaf plateIf new valves do not seat on the leaf plate, turn the leaf valves over
Used leaf valves must not be turned over for reuseLeaf valve may break when returned to service causing serious powerhead damage2If any leaf valves are standing open, apply light pressure using pencil eraserIf leaf valve closes with light pressure, valve is acceptableIf not, inspect leaf plate for high spots or burrsDo not lap leaf plates in figure pattern on lapping blockIf plate is too smooth, the leaf valves may stick closed after off-season storage3Apply OMC Locquic Primer to mounting screws and allow to air dry4Apply OMC Screw Lock to mounting screwsWipe off excess adhesive 5Assemble leaf valve shim (if required) and leaf stopInstall two screws near center of leaf stopDo not tighten 6Hold leaf valve assembly in horizontal position This will usually align leaf valves over ports in leaf plateTighten two screws evenly2683
