Pump For functional tests of the VRO$ pump, refer to Testing Fuel System, this SectionTo verify oil consumption and proper fueloil ratios, proceed as outlined ill propellers, twist and remove all spark plug leads

To avoid accidental starting of engine while changing

1Install the proper test propeller and put engine in suitable test tank2Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperatureStop the engine3Carefully remove the oil supply hose from the pump oil inlet fittingf51 4Install and secure ten-inch (254 mm) length of inI.Dclear vinyl hose as shownThe hose should have in(76 mm) accurately identified in Y2 in(13 mm) increments5Fill the hose with Evinrude or Johnson Outboard Lubricant and run the engine to eliminate any air at the base of the hose6 Monitor the number of pump cycles by using fuel pressure gauge or putting light finger pressure on the outlet hose At full throttle, the pump should exhaust one-inch column of oil in approximately three pulses At 800 RPM, the pump should exhaust one-inch column of oil in approximately nine pulses
