Gearcase Servicing35, 40, 48, 50 Removal

i twist and remove all spark plug leads
1To avoid accidental starting of engine while servicing,

Remove the shift lever retaining pinPush the shift lever toward the powerheadTo disengage the shift lever from the shift rod and the gearcase before removing the trim tab so tab is put back in the same positionRemove the trim tab retaining screw and the trim tab from the gearcaserJ1 Using !Va inthin wall socket, remove the countersunk screw with the lock washerrJl 5Remove the four gearcase retaining screws washers (two each port and starboard)
