[TIJ122112313 Apply few drops of outboard lubricant to the lower bushingAnchor the external tang of the starter rewind spring CD into the lower retainer plate slotTighten both lower retainer plate screws 12414Install the starter spool assembly engaging the slot of the spool with the internal rewind spring tangPosition rope guideInstall timer pointer and tighten the two starter head screws to torque of 60-84 in Ibs (5 -7 Nm)125112615 The cam follower has to be disengaged to permit rewinding of the starter spring Disengage the cam follower and maintain release by installing flat blade screwdriver into slot of lever armInstall an O-ring or rubber band above the teeth of the pinion This is to keep the pinion from engaging the flywheel12616Use speeder wrench and standard flat tip driver that fits inner slot of spoolTurn the spool counterclockwise 1211 turnsInstall the starter rope through slot of spool with knot forwardHold the starter rope permitting the starter to rewind slowly12717Thread the starter rope through eyelet in lower engine cover and tie slip knotInstall the handle and bumperTie knot as shown in figure No3 and seat knot in cavity of handleInstall handle cap Remove the slip knot, screwdriver and O-ring or rubber bandPull the starter handle few times to ensure engagement of pinion to flywheelCheck operation of starter interlockManual starter must not function when throttle is advanced beyond the START position
