20To remove the forward gearcase bearing (the bearing that the propeller shaft is supported by), assemble OMC Bearing and Sea Remover PI 391259 as shown, making sure that the jaws of the puller are oriented vertically and then extract the forward bearing 21 modelsTo remove the shift rod bushinguse components of OMC Driveshaft Bearing Remover and Installer PI 392092 (Guide Plate and Rod )

Thread the top of the rod into the shift rod bushingAttach OMC Slide Hammer PI 391008 to the rod and remove the bushingDiscard both the bushing and O-ringAssembly

14 modelsOil and install new O-ring into new shift rod bushingAssemble the Bushing Installer to the Rod (components of OMC Driveshaft Bearing Remover and Installer PI 392092)Place the bushing onto the Bushing Installer with O-ring downApply OMC Adhesive to the outside of the bushing Using mallet, drive the bushing into the gearcase until seated 813228

2Using OMC Propeller Shaft Bearing Remover and Installer PI 392091 and soft mallet, drive in new forward gearcase bearing as far as it will goSupport the nose of the gearcase on block of wood on the floor while driving in the bearingMake certain that the lettered side of the bearing is facing the tool to prevent damage to the bearing 3To install new lower driveshaft bearing, assemble components of OMC Driveshaft Bearing Remover and Installer PI 392092 (RodGuide PlatePin and Small Disc with concave side toward bearing) as shownPlace the lettered side of the bearing toward the small discUsing mallet, drive in the lower bearing until the pin comes in contact with the guide plate
