Install the impeller and cup into the impeller body making sure the tabs on the cup are in the slot in the pump body Oil the water pump grommet and install it in the pump housing as shown Carefully turn the pump body to line up the screw holes with those in the gearcase rN-t=l
Only rotate the water pump housing in counterclockwise direction to prevent the impeller blades from being turned backward Apply OMC Gasket Sealing Compound to water pump screwsTighten screws to torque of 25-35 inIbs(2,84,0 Nm)
Installation
i twist and remove spark plug lead
1To avoid accidental starting of engine while servicing,
2Apply oil or liquid soap in the water tube grommet3Coat the driveshaft splines with OMC Moly LubeDo not coat top surface of driveshaft as lubricant here may prevent seating of driveshaft in crankshaft4 Install the gearcase using care to align water tube in grommet and driveshaft splines with the crankshaftTurn the flywheel clockwise to align the driveshaft and the crankshaft
