7Pressure and vacuum test the gearcase as follows: INotel Pressure and vacuum test gearcase before filling Remove the filldrain plug and screw in pressure test gauge Hold the driveshaft in place and pump pressure up to 3-6 psi (21-42 kPa)If pressure gauge indicates leakage, submerge the gearcase in water to determine source of leakage as evidenced by bubblesIf the gearcase pressure gauge does not indicate leakage, increase pressure to 1618 psi (110-124 kPa)If pressure does not hold, submerge the gearcase in water and check for source of leakageMake necessary repairs and repeat test Screw in vacuum testerPump out to 3-5 in(76-127 mm) of mercury and see if vacuum holdsThen pump out to 15 in (381 mm) of mercury and checkIf the gearcase fails to hold on either test, put oil around suspected sealIf leak then stops or oil is drawn in, that seal is defectiveWhen the gearcase checks out OK, refill with the proper lubricant[]] 8Fill the gearcase with 1.3 floz(38 ml) lubricant as follows: Turn the gearcase so filldrain hole is up Fill the gearcase with OMC Hi- Vis gearcase lubricantFill slowly allowing air to escape, until lubricant appears at hole Install and tighten the filldrain plug to torque of 6084 inIbs(7-9 Nm) Inspect the gearcase oil level after motor test has been performed9Install the water pump as followsInstall the impeller pin in the driveshaft by aligning the tee portion with the axis of shaft and pressing the pin in until the pin bottoms against the shaft Install the plastic pump spacer in the pump cavity of the gearcase so that the side with two small prongs are toward the cavity and the prongs enter the large main water intake hole of the gearcase COB3157
